When the odds are stacked against you – create your own playing field.

When your current circumstances don’t allow your qualities to shine, it’s time to change your environment.

For example, if you’re intelligent, it doesn’t make sense to seek potential partners in a nightclub. The environment there doesn’t provide an opportunity for your qualities to truly come to the fore.

In a nightclub, meaningful conversations are rare, making it difficult to demonstrate your superiority. You may be more capable than the majority of people, but in an environment where focused discussions are scarce, and where most have left their reasoning behind after a few drinks, it’s challenging to truly shine.

That's why it's important to choose a different environment.

While this analogy is derived from the networking/dating world, the same principle applies in business. If your current environment doesn’t allow your company to thrive, you must seek a new playing field and dictate your terms.

On this subject, I recommend the international bestseller – “Blue Ocean Strategy.”

I’d also like to bring your attention to a cognitive bias known as the sunk cost fallacy. It occurs when you’ve invested significant effort into one thing that evidently isn’t yielding results, yet due to your invested effort, you find it hard to let go and start a new chapter. Well, sometimes you have to kill your darlings. You must know when to pivot.

Try to be objectively self-aware – if the environment you’re in isn’t yielding results, change the environment and dictate your own game.
